Please carefully study the publication before contacting the editor. When writing your pitch, be sure to:

  • Carefully study the publication, to get a sense of their style
  • Have a clear idea of where you proposed article will fit into the publication
  • Have a clear sense of the publication’s general schedule
  • Have a clear sense of who the publication’s audience is
  • Choose just one idea to pitch — and make sure it closely fits the publication’s needs
  • Write a short pitch (no more than 200 words)

Their associate experiences editor is “accepting lifestyle pitches for compelling and timely essays on unique travel experiences, hot takes on TikTok trends, home decor, food, and more things making an impression on you.” They are currently not accepting roundups or itineraries. They are “looking to commission someone who has had an at home abortion to write a quick turnaround first-person/opinion piece.” Their rates generally start at £70 for 600 to 800 words. Stylist Magazine is a weekly magazine and a website for smart, successful, and sophisticated women. They are seeking feature pitches around Ramadan. They pay £150 for 800 to 1,000 words. Jewish Currents is a print and digital magazine that is “committed to the rich tradition of thought, activism, and culture of the Jewish left.” They are accepting pitches for their Fall 2022 issue which is themed Rest. Fanfyte is Fanbyte’s wrestling section. They are seeking WrestleMania/NXT/Mania Week Indie pitches. They don’t want pitches about Roman/Brock, Cody/Seth, Sami/Knoxville, and Bianca/Becky. The Institute for Science & Policy is “a catalyst for solving problems through civil dialogue and scientific thinking.” They commission “freelance submissions year-round on topics involving science, policy, and decision-making (climate, health, energy, natural resources).” They pay $300 to $500 for reported work and essays (around 1,000 words). Greater Greater Washington is a nonprofit organization that is “devoted to improving the vitality of Washington, DC and the walkable cities and neighborhoods in the Washington metropolitan area.” They are seeking “pitches for explainers, features, historical pieces, and news articles about transportation, housing, land use, and sustainability in the Washington region.” They pay $300 for pieces of 500 to 1,000 words and $150 for informative news briefs of 250 to 450 words.
