Under the Full Moon’s Light

For this fiction print anthology, the editors want stories about “the spells the moon has placed on humanity since the dawn—or should we say dusk—of time. We want to hear your loveliest and creepiest stories about the full moon: armies attacking under the cover of darkness, wretches making pacts with fiends under a Harvest Moon, scientists working in their laboratories in the dead of night, monsters most cruel, spells that work under a moon’s shadow, tsunamis that rain destruction upon unsuspecting sailors caused by the moon’s pull on the oceans, children with supernatural powers born during a solstice, and fairy circles in the heart of the woods.”

Crannóg Magazine

This Irish magazine publishes fiction and poetry by Irish and international writers. They nominate works for the Forward Prize and the Pushcart Prize.

Hysterical

Blue Cubicle Press: The First Line

All stories must be written with the first line provided, which is “The window was open just enough to let in the cool night air.” All genres are accepted. They also accept nonfiction – short critical essays about your favourite first line from a book.

This Canadian literary magazine publishes fiction, nonfiction – interviews, essays and reviews – and poetry from all over the world.

The Worlds of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Vol IV

The editor wants genre fiction that explores and entertains. The guidelines say, “Readers like to get involved with bright characters and strange worlds. They like to be frightened and unnerved and they like to see magic and fantasy worlds that are not a slightly different Tolkein or Martin.” No erotica, fan fiction or cookie-cutter settings that could be anywhere and have no real bearing on what is happening.

Workers Write! More Tales from the Classroom

Workers Write! publishes work about jobs that define who we are as individuals and communities. For this anthology, they want stories and poems about anyone who works in classroom settings – fiction about teachers, councelors, admins, school librarians, principals, or janitors.

Red Room Press: Year’s Best Hardcore Horror

This is a reprint anthology for horror – extreme, harder side of horror which breaks boundaries and taboos. They want work that has been (or will be) published in a 2018 anthology, single author collection, magazine, or online magazine. Self published anthologies and collections are also ok.
