Women’s Running: Submission Guidelines

Update: This market appears to no longer accept submissions from writers.

Women’s running is a national magazine that covers all aspects of “the running lifestyle.” Their mission is to “create a high-quality magazine for smart, successful women who use running to balance and enrich their lives.”

They pay professional rates for articles for their magazine. They accept queries from freelance writers. Articles should be in the standard AP style. Expect a reply within six weeks or more.

Departments include fitness, health, sports nutrition, beauty in motion, travel, and healthy recipes.

They explicitly state they want queries for their profiles section. According to their guidelines:

“Motivational and inspirational, feature profiles (1,500-2,000 words) highlight a female runner who has overcome a major obstacle or accomplished something incredible through running. In general, professional runners should have an element of depth and interest to them beyond just excelling at their sport. We also profile amateur athletes who have fascinating lives or careers, as well as active, everyday women who are making a difference in their communities or elsewhere. Above all, we’re looking for women who manage to lead exciting, active lifestyles in the face of many other commitments. This section can also occasionally highlight groups or charities that are motivating girls or women to run. ”

To learn more, or to submit, be sure to read their contributor guidelines.

Please note that the submission address listed on their guidelines is incorrect. The correct address is editorial@womensrunning.com
