Western Art & Architecture is the magazine for art collectors and art aficionados in the United States.
They accept submissions in a variety of categories, including artist profiles, home features, “illuminations”, “In the Studio”, and “Collector’s Eye.”
According to their submission guidelines:
WA&A approaches its coverage of the arts from a lifestyle perspective, offering insight into the collector’s life. All of our features, columns and photography focus on America’s love affair with the Western visual arts — from the classic Western masters to contemporary trendsetters — in lively, creative communities from Texas to the West Coast. WA&A is interested in introspective articles by knowledgeable writers and photographers who will approach a story from a new angle and invoke the reader’s passion for art and architecture by evoking a powerful sense of time and place. WA&A adheres to AP style. We strongly recommend that you familiarize yourself with WA&A before sending a query.
They typically pay $.50 a word, with most of their articles ranging from 800 to 1200 words. That works out to around $400-$600 per article.
They also pay for photographs, including $500 for a cover photo, and between $50 and $185 for other photos.
