The Pacific Standard: Submission Guidelines and Payment Information

The Pacific Standard is an award-winning magazine for “readers interested in working toward forward-looking changes to private behavior and public policy.”

Their tagline is “stories that matter.”

According to our research, payment ranges from $0.15 cents per word, up to $2 a word for established freelancers. Keep in mind that the rate they pay depends on a number of factors. It is not set in stone, and will need to be negotiated.

Recent articles they’ve published include topics such as commercial fishing on Lake Erie, high end sushi in NYC, for-profit colleges, and “the economics of antibiotic resistance.”

Their editors can be contacted here.
