Family Chronicle magazine is currently accepting submissions of articles. They cover family research. Also known as genealogy. They encourage writers to query the editor before submit a full article.
They pay $.08 a word. Their articles are up to 7,000 words in length, though they’re particularly interested in articles that are around 800 words. Based on their pay rate, that means you could be earning anywhere from $60 to $500 per article. Although, writers should expect to publish lower word count articles, and thus get lower pay.
They also pay $7 per image published.
This is a great opportunity for writers who love to research family history and want to share their research methods. Be sure to read the full submission guidelines for more details.
Their author guidelines are very thorough. They also have one of the more entertaining lines that I’ve ever read in a submission page:
“If you believe that artificial sweetener Aspartame is a deadly poison or that President Bush has a low I.Q., keep your opinions to yourself when writing about genealogy – we are not interested in your crusade, even if we agree with you.”
This is good advice for any publication a writer may submit to.
