Shattered Prism is a new Sci-Fi and fantasy publisher launching their first issue November, 2015. They are edited by Carmelo Rafala and Amir Naaman. They “believe diversity is what makes humanity interesting and unique, and we wish to celebrate that diversity by publishing the best works from peoples of all nations, ethnic backgrounds and orientations.”
They are currently seeking submissions of short stories that fall under the general umbrella of “speculative fiction.” They plan to publish twice a year, in May and November.
They pay $0.06 a word. They prefer stories between 1500 and 5,500 words. They aim to respond to submissions within one month.
Because they are a new publication, it is hard to gauge the type of story they hope to publish. Editor Carmelo Rafala is also the editor and publisher of Immersion Press, which would be a good place to start in terms of attempting to get a handle on their publishing tastes. Tor.com recently described about their recently published book:”Scale-Bright’s wonderful world boasts delicately drawn characters and an affecting narrative, bolstered on the sentence level by exquisite exposition and deft description.””
